Topics

Some of the topics and mini-lessons that I will blog about will be discussing sequencing, flashbacks, character development, description, voice, and point of few. Zevin does an amazing job with all of these literary subjects.

Books by Zevin

Elsewhere
Memoirs of  Teenage Amnesiac
Margarettown
The Hole We're In

They can be purchased at most books stores and all of them are available in ebook format, especially for a Nook.

Reasoning

My main grade level focuses are grades 7-12 because I mostly work with middle and high schoolers. Also, the author I chose writes mostly for young adults and much of the information used is targeted for that age group.

Creation

This blog is being created for a class that I am currently taking through Wright State University in Ohio. We have to choose and author and "talk" about that author being used as a mentor for writing. One of my favorite Y.A. (young adult) authors is Gabrielle Zevin. I decided to focus on this author because she writes about a lot of controversal and interesting topics.

Intro

Hi everyone,
My name is Katie Dickerson. I am relatively new to this blogging thing so don't become frustrated if I ramble and it takes me a while to catch on.

Here is a little bit about me. If you want to know more check out my full profile.

I am currently working on my Reading Endorsement for K-12 reading. So, yes, that does mean I already have a Bachelors and Masters degrees. Currently, I live with my son, fiancee and two ornery cats.
